The event takes place on Sunday the 18th September and starts from 9am and ends at 4pm. On the menu is a host of activities, such as the Low Car Limbo, as well as the judging process to find the Best Wheels, the Best Fitment, Best Stance, Best Air and Best of Show

SPL Hot Hatch Challenge entries flood in!

The SPL Hot Hatch Challenge boasts the biggest field of entries for MotorEx, and with the focus being predominant on the street scene, entries are flooding in from all corners of the country. The countries meanest and baddest street driving SPL cars will compete to see who has the loudest hatch in the land. The contest is open to owners of modern hatchbacks and will be limited to 30 entrants only on a first-come first serve basis.


Friday Night Thrills sets the precedent for the first day of the festival

The Speed and Sound MotorEx premiers Friday, the 16th of September, and the first day’s proceedings will bring a party atmosphere to the Ticketpro Dome. As the sun goes down, car modifiers and party revellers will descend to Northriding to celebrate the magazine’s first motoring expo.

The Dome’s lights will dim as exhibition stands and car audio systems are lit, luring thousands of visitors to interact and meet some of the country’s best tuning and car audio brands. Click here for Friday’s itinerary.

MotorEx exhibitors offering massive, and never-to-be-repeated weekend specials

Some of the country’s best known brands in both the performance and car audio industries will be exhibiting their products during the 3-day motoring festival. Each exhibitor has undertaken to showcase some unbelievable show specials, selling top products at never to be repeated prices.

Master Tuner’s Theatre filled with exciting classes for the true petrolhead.

The Master Tuner’s Interactive Theatre is a show all on its own! In a closed off environment, 256 visitors will be able to attend and listen to some of the country’s top tuners in both the performance and car audio fields.

For an entry fee of R85 per class, the likes of Meguiars, Precision Turbo, Mickey Thompson as well as many others will be demonstrating some of the latest products to hit their shelves and to give some valuable insight into helping you get the most out of your street car, or race car. Car Clubs to battle it out in “Cram The Car” contest.

The Cram The Car contest is one of many competitions happening over the weekend, and th event will pit the country’s largest car clubs against each other as they attempt to fill in as many club members into one car.

The likes of the VW Club of SA and the BMW Car Club will be aiming to take the title this year, and with Jason Goliath urging them on, it’s bound to be hilarious!

Meguiars confirms sponsorship for this year’s Best of Show.

Car cleaning giants Meguiars are pleased to announce their sponsorship for Best of Show which will take place from Friday to Sunday. 60 selected show cars from across the country will be judged over the weekend, with the finale happening on Sunday as Jason Goliath reveals the Best of Show winner for 2016.

Dyno Shootout sure to test the nerves of many.

The weekend’s schedule also sees the much anticipated dyno challenge on Saturday 17th September and will take place from 9am-5pm.  Specific classes have been created, and the entry fee is R200 per car. There’s a R5,000 prize for the strongest 4-cylinder, 8-cylinder, 2JZ-powered and rotary cars.

Car Club Market aimed for those who love cars, collecting parts and merchandise.

The outside area of the Dome will be filled with the smell of boerie rolls, banging tunes and friendly banter as car clubs from across the country will be on show. Here, MotorEx visitors can mingle with committee members and join up for a fee.
