DIVISIONS

  • There are two divisions available, Street and Open.
  • The STREET DIVISION is purely for the man on the street who is not affiliated to any brand in any way. No fitment centre-owned cars, distributors and sponsored competitors are allowed to compete in this class. These cars will automatically fall into the Open division.
  • The OPEN DIVISION is for distributors, fitment centres and pretty much anyone else wanting to compete in this division.

STREET DIVISION RULES

  • Voltage: The maximum allowed voltage 15.5V. A meter will be clamped onto the amplifier to measure the maximum and minimum voltage during your run.
  • Power cable: The power cable runs will be limited to four runs of 1/0 gauge cable. You can use two runs of positive and two runs of negative the most. Should your cable be thicker than 1/0 gauge, you will have to reduce the amount of runs used. Cables need to be neatly run underneath the carpet and not visible inside the cabin area.
  • Batteries: A total of three batteries are allowed and the maximum volume of each battery is limited to 1000 square inches. One battery needs to be in the OEM location and the other two needs to be located in the boot (cargo area). We need to be able to see and inspect all the equipment in the car. If your enclosure happens to be bolted into place which covers the battery, please note that you can be asked to remove your enclosure after your run for us to verify that the battery size complies with the rules.
  • Enclosure: There are no restrictions on enclosure types or port sizes however the enclosure cannot be higher than the cars window line. We will exercise a maximum height limit of 600mm from the floor of the boot.
  • Interior: The car needs to resemble a car when it comes into the lanes. You will not be allowed to compete if you have missing door panels or any other interior bits which the car was designed to have other than the rear parcel shelf. Should you remove the rear parcel shelf, its mounting points (side panels) need to remain inside the car. No shielding of the sensor will be allowed. No seats are allowed to be removed and seating brackets may not be modified to the point where fixed seats are made to be tilted forward. The sensor needs to be visible to the judge at ALL times and we will not allow anything from obstructing our view into the car. So in other words, you are not allowed to cover the windscreen with any banners or other material which prohibits us from looking into the cabin during your run. The car needs to come into the lanes with the rear seats locked in the upright position. If the seat has 3 locking positions, it needs to at least lock on the 2nd one. You may fold down the rear seats after the car has been inspected however you may not move or reposition any equipment around. Your car needs to remain safe at all times. No parts of the seats will be allowed to be removed.
  • Amplifiers: You are allowed one amplifier per subwoofer or a maximum of two amplifiers to power the entire subwoofer system should you have more than two subwoofers.
  • Subwoofers: There are no limits to the types of subwoofers or size of subwoofers which you can use provided you compete in the correct classes as per the cone area limits.
  • Head unit: The head unit needs to be mounted in the dash area. Should the car do anything higher than 149.9dBs where you will need to run the car from the outside, you may then only remove the head unit from the dash area however the cabling needs to exit the original mounting area in the dash.
  • Safety: If the system does over 149.9dBs, it has to be run from the outside. The judging will take place inside the Dome and as per Fire and Safety Rules, please ensure you have no more than a quarter tank of fuel in your car and a fire extinguisher inside the car at all times.
  • Classes:
    0-160 square inch (typically 1x 12-inch or 2 x 10-inch or 3x 8-inch woofers).
    161-240 square inch (typically 1x 15-inch or 2x 12-inch or 3x 10-inch woofers).
    241-360  square inch (typically 1x 18-inch or 2x 15-inch or 3x 12-inch woofers).
  • OPEN DIVISION RULES
  • Voltage: The maximum allowed voltage 18V. A meter will be clamped onto the amplifier to measure the maximum and minimum voltage during your run.
  • Power cable: There is no limit to the number of power cable runs or cable size however cables need to be neatly run underneath the carpet and not visible inside the cabin area.
  • Batteries: There is no limit to the amount of batteries you are allowed and neither is there a limit to its volume. There has to be one battery in the OEM location which needs to be linked to the batteries in the rear. We will be doing a voltage match with the motor running and the motor off to ensure the rules are adhered to. We would also like you to practice safe installation methods so all batteries need to be securely mounted and not able to move at all.
  • Enclosure/build: There are no restrictions on enclosure types or port sizes however we will not be allowing any walled cars to compete in this class. You may build a mini-wall provided it does not pass the window line of the car. The enclosure also needs to be securely mounted to the cabin for safety reasons.
  • Interior: The car needs to resemble a car when it comes into the lanes. You will not be allowed to compete if you have missing door panels or any other interior bits which the car was designed to have. You may remove both front seats for your run, however the car needs to come into the lanes with both driver and passenger seats securely mounted in its original location. Should you opt to run the car with the seats in place, seating brackets may not be modified to the point where fixed seats are made to be tilted forward. No shielding of the sensor will be allowed. The sensor needs to be visible to the judge at ALL times and we will not allow anything from obstructing our view into the car. You are not allowed to cover the windscreen with any banners or other material which prohibits us from looking into the cabin during your run. Your car needs to remain safe at all times.
  • Amplifiers: There are no amplifier limits. Come with what you have.
  • Subwoofers: There are no limits to the types of subwoofers or size of subwoofers which you can use. Come with what you have.
